Project Description

We started our first project on our Independence Day. The Upper Primary School at Chinnanagaram village, Nelikuduru mandal, is located 180 kilometers from Hyderabad.

Initially, we provided chairs to 130 students. Besides taking up the SWACHH campaign, we also started a plantation drive to improve the aesthetics of the school. Additionally, we gave the school walls a revamp with paintings of national and state logos, as well as various birds.

Sports kits were supplied to encourage physical activities among the students. In a bid to develop a sense of responsibility, we formed student committees for Cleanliness, Health, Cultural Events, and Mid-day Meal Implementation.

Later, in the month of November, we introduced a virtual classroom by providing a projector, computer, internet facility, and webcam. The virtual classroom concept allows subject experts from anywhere in the country to interact directly with students via video calling. This initiative enables exposure to a wide range of subjects including academics, sports, culture, and tradition.

Previously, the government had sanctioned an additional classroom for the school. However, due to some internal village issues, the construction work was halted. The 100 Smiles team intervened and spoke with mandal and district education officers. As a result, the government sanctioned ₹2.5 lakhs to complete the construction of the classrooms.
