With lots of hopes and responsibilities, 100 SMILES has started its second project at the Mandal Parishad Primary School (English Medium & Telugu Medium) in Jajapur village, Narayanpet Mandal, Mahaboobnagar district, which consists of nearly 201 students.
At the time of inspection, we found that the children did not have access to drinking water. Although there was a bore pump in the school compound, it had been damaged due to high demand during the summer. We stepped in to provide a water pipeline connection and supplied them with RO purified water.
The school has also started utilizing the rejected water from the RO filter to irrigate plants. In the month of August, we inaugurated a digital classroom in the presence of students, school staff, the Mandal Educational Officer, the Sarpanch, and members of the press.
We also conducted a motivational session with the students during this event. However, we later discovered that the school still lacked water connection to its washrooms. We discussed the issue with the Sarpanch and extended our support to ensure the school has access to hygienic washroom facilities.
